My name is Emily Micucci and I am a special education teacher. I work with students in grades kindergarten through fourth. I do not have my own classroom of students, but see many students throughout the school, mainly in inclusion settings. Although I have taught for many years, I do not know a lot about the latest educational technology. I am taking classes at Metro State College of Denver for my teacher license renewal. From August - December 2008, I was enrolled in an educational technology class. This wikispace is the major project for my class. As you can tell from the picture above, I am embarking on this journey to learn new technology like a child who is learning to ride a bike does. I still have my training wheels on, so bear with me! Thanks.
Educational technology is an exciting field! There are so many new technologies which can increase student learning, and prepare students for the 21st Century. We live in a tecnological world. Students need to have a working knowledge of tecnology in order to someday compete for jobs in a global market. Since the internet has developed, there is a world of knowledge at the students' fingertips. They can help to create new information, and hopefully, find new solutions to problems. I am thrilled to have the opportunity to learn new strategies and techniques that I can share with the students!
